Materials for mining and minerals

Hydrometallurgical plants for platinum group metals, base metals and uranium use sulphuric acid and chloride-bearing solutions at elevated temperature, so duplex 2205 and super duplex steels have largely replaced 316L in tanks, piping and agitators – their higher strength allows thinner sections and their corrosion resistance gives longer life. Abrasive slurry lines use carbon steel with liners or wear-resistant steels, and process water lines use stainless steel. We supply duplex plates, pipes, flanges and fittings as complete packages with matching certification.

Standards, specifications and sour service

We review the specification named in each enquiry – the owner's or EPC contractor's material requirements, supplementary testing, marking and documentation – and confirm which requirements can be met before quoting. Material for sour service can be supplied to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 on request. Our company is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and mill test certificates (MTC) are supplied with all material.

Shipping to South Africa

Shipments leave from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) near Mumbai for Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), and urgent consignments can go by air freight to Johannesburg. We quote on EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF terms, and transit time is confirmed with each quotation. Material is packed for sea freight in bundles, wooden boxes and crates with ISPM 15 treated wood, and each package is marked to the buyer's instructions. Documents include the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, bill of lading and MTC, with attestation or legalisation where the buyer requires it. Third-party inspection by the buyer's nominated agency can be arranged before dispatch.
