Pipe Fittings – Manufacturer, Stockist, Supplier & Exporter
Giriraj Impex is a manufacturer, stockist, supplier and exporter of pipe fittings in stainless steel, duplex and super duplex steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, nickel alloys and titanium. Our range covers butt-weld pipe fittings to ASME B16.9 and MSS SP-43, forged socket weld and threaded fittings to ASME B16.11, and branch outlets (olets) to MSS SP-97.
Pipe fittings change the direction, size or branching of a pipeline and close its ends. Each fitting must match the pipe in material, nominal size and wall thickness, so we supply fittings to the same grade and schedule as your pipe, with matching bevelled ends for welding.

Butt-weld fittings
Butt-weld fittings are welded directly to the pipe, giving a smooth bore and a joint as strong as the pipe itself. They are the standard choice for process piping from small bore up to large diameters.
- Elbows – 45°, 90° and 180° returns in long radius and short radius.
- Tees – equal and reducing tees, and crosses.
- Reducers – concentric and eccentric.
- End caps.
- Stub ends – long and short pattern (MSS), used with lap joint flanges.
| Standard | Scope |
|---|---|
| ASME B16.9 | Factory-made wrought butt-welding fittings, NPS ½ to 48, including short-radius elbows (formerly ASME B16.28) |
| MSS SP-43 | Light-weight stainless steel butt-welding fittings, typically Schedule 5S and 10S |
| ASME B16.25 | Butt-welding end preparation (bevels) |
Dimensions by size are listed in our butt-weld fitting dimensions chart.
Reducing fittings change the line size. A concentric reducer keeps the pipe centre line and is common on vertical lines and general process piping; an eccentric reducer keeps one side flat, so it is fitted flat side up on pump suction lines to avoid trapping air, or flat side down on pipe racks to keep a common bottom of pipe. Reducing tees take a smaller branch off the run without a separate reducer.
Forged fittings and olets
Forged fittings are machined from forgings and joined by socket welding or threading. They suit small-bore, high-pressure lines such as instrument, drain, vent and utility connections.
| Standard | Products | Classes / sizes |
|---|---|---|
| ASME B16.11 | Socket weld and threaded elbows, tees, crosses, couplings, half couplings, caps, plugs and bushings | NPS ⅛ to 4; Class 3000, 6000 and 9000 socket weld; Class 2000, 3000 and 6000 threaded |
| MSS SP-97 | Integrally reinforced branch outlets: weldolet, sockolet, threadolet, elbolet, latrolet, nipolet | Matched to run and branch pipe sizes and schedules |
| MSS SP-79 | Socket-welding reducer inserts | To the standard |
| MSS SP-83 | Socket weld and threaded unions | Class 3000 and 6000 |
| MSS SP-95 | Swage nipples and bull plugs | To the standard |
See olets for branch connection types and sizing.

Manufacturing, testing and marking
Butt-weld fittings are formed from pipe or plate by hot or cold forming – elbows on a mandrel, tees by hydraulic bulging or extrusion, reducers by pressing – and are then heat treated as the material specification requires. They can be seamless or welded construction; ASTM A403, for example, designates seamless fittings as class S and welded fittings as class W or WX. Ends are machined to ASME B16.25 bevels to match the pipe schedule.
Each fitting is dimensionally checked to the ordered standard and marked with the material grade, size, schedule and heat number. Fittings are supplied with mill test certificates (MTC), with third-party inspection on request, and can be supplied to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 on request for sour service.
Long radius or short radius elbows
ASME B16.9 elbows come in two radii. A long radius (LR) elbow has a centre-line radius of 1.5 times the nominal pipe size and is the default for most process lines because it gives lower pressure drop and smoother flow. A short radius (SR) elbow has a radius equal to the nominal size and is used where space is tight. Returns (180° bends) are also available in both radii.
Ordering pipe fittings
Please state the fitting type, the standard, the nominal size (and branch or reducing size), the wall thickness or schedule to match the pipe, the material grade with seamless or welded construction, the quantity and any inspection or NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirement. For forged fittings give the class (2000, 3000, 6000 or 9000) and the end type – socket weld or threaded (NPT).
Applications
Pipe fittings are used in refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, power plants, fertiliser and pharmaceutical units, water treatment and marine systems. For a complete piping package, order fittings with seamless pipes or welded pipes and matching flanges in the same grade. All product forms are listed on the products page.
Fittings for instrument and utility connections are often forged socket weld or threaded types in Class 3000, while main process lines use butt-weld fittings matched to the pipe schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
Butt-weld fittings are welded end to end with the pipe and suit all sizes, giving a smooth bore. Socket weld fittings receive the pipe in a socket and are fillet-welded; they are used on small-bore lines, generally NPS 2 and below, under ASME B16.11.
ASME B16.9 covers factory-made wrought butt-welding fittings from NPS ½ to NPS 48, including long and short radius elbows, tees, reducers and caps. MSS SP-43 covers light-weight stainless steel fittings for thin-wall schedules.
They are pressure class designations in ASME B16.11. Each class is matched to a pipe wall thickness: Class 3000 socket weld fittings correspond to Schedule 80 pipe and Class 6000 to Schedule 160, as tabulated in the standard.
ASTM A234 WPB is the standard grade for carbon steel butt-weld fittings for moderate and elevated temperatures. ASTM A420 WPL6 is used for low-temperature service, and MSS SP-75 WPHY grades for high-yield pipelines.
An olet is a forged branch outlet welded onto a run pipe to create a branch connection, as an alternative to a tee. Common types are weldolet (butt-weld), sockolet (socket weld) and threadolet (threaded), covered by MSS SP-97.
Yes. We supply fittings, pipes, flanges and fasteners in the same material grade, so one order can cover the complete piping package with consistent test certificates.
