Inconel Wires
Giriraj Impex is a manufacturer, stockist, supplier and exporter of Inconel wires in alloys 600, 601, 625 and 718. We manufacture Inconel wire to ASTM B166 (alloys 600 and 601) and ASTM B446 (alloy 625), with alloy 718 wire to AMS and customer specifications, in annealed, cold-drawn and spring-temper conditions, on spools, in coils and as straightened cut lengths, and supply ERNiCr-3 and ERNiCrMo-3 welding wire to AWS A5.14, with mill test certificates.
Inconel wire is used where wire products must stay strong and resist oxidation or corrosion at high temperatures – for springs, heating-element supports, furnace mesh and belts, thermocouple sheaths, wire mesh and filters, and welding of nickel alloys and dissimilar metals.

Nickel includes cobalt where stated in the standard. Footnotes as given in each ASTM specification.
Alloy 601 adds aluminium for better oxidation resistance at very high temperatures, and alloy 718 is a precipitation-hardening grade with niobium, titanium and aluminium. Background on all alloys is on the Inconel page.
Choosing the alloy
Inconel 600 wire is used for heating-element supports, furnace and kiln parts, thermocouple sheaths and electronic components, where oxidation resistance and stability at high temperature are needed. Inconel 601 resists oxidation and scaling to even higher temperatures and is used for furnace mesh belts, radiant tube parts and heat-treatment fixtures. Inconel 625 wire combines strength with resistance to seawater and chemical attack, for marine wire rope, mesh, springs and chemical-plant wire products. Inconel 718 spring wire is formed in the solution-treated condition and then aged to high strength, for springs and wire forms in gas turbines, aero engines, valves and downhole tools that operate at up to about 650 °C.
Spring wire
Nickel alloy springs keep their load at temperatures where stainless steel springs relax. Inconel 600 and 625 spring wire is cold drawn to spring temper and coiled, then stress relieved. Inconel 718 is coiled in the softer solution-treated condition and precipitation hardened afterwards, which gives high strength with good dimensional control. Inconel X-750 is another precipitation-hardening spring alloy available on request. Please give the spring service temperature, environment and the required tensile range with the enquiry.
Welding wire
Nickel alloy welding wire to AWS A5.14 is supplied on spools for MIG welding and as straight cut lengths for TIG welding. ERNiCr-3 is used to weld alloy 600 and for joints between nickel alloys, stainless steel and carbon steel at high temperature. ERNiCrMo-3 is used to weld alloy 625, alloy 825, 6Mo super-austenitic stainless steels and dissimilar joints, and for corrosion-resistant overlay and cladding inside carbon steel pipe and vessels. Other classifications such as ERNiCrMo-4 for Hastelloy C276 are available on request.
How we manufacture Inconel wire
We manufacture Inconel wire from certified rod by cold drawing through a series of dies, with intermediate anneals to restore ductility. Because nickel alloys work-harden rapidly, the number of passes between anneals is controlled to avoid cracking. The final condition is set by the cold reduction after the last anneal: annealed wire for forming and weaving, and cold-drawn or spring-temper wire for strength. Each coil or spool is tagged with alloy, size, condition and heat number and supplied with the mill test certificate.
Ordering Inconel wire
Please give the alloy and specification, diameter and tolerance, condition or tensile range, surface finish, form and spool or coil weight, quantity and any testing or inspection requirement. Wire is packed on spools or in coils, sealed against moisture and packed in cartons or wooden boxes for export.
Applications and related products
Inconel wire is used for springs, heating-element supports, furnace belts and mesh, thermocouples, wire rope, filters, welding and overlay cladding, and aerospace and turbine components. Thicker sizes are on the Inconel round bars page and other wire materials on the round bars, rods and wires page. Matching products include Inconel pipes and tubes, Inconel sheets and plates, Inconel flanges, Inconel pipe fittings and Inconel fasteners.
