SS 304 Sheets & Plates
Giriraj Impex stocks, supplies and exports SS 304 sheet and plate to ASTM A240 / ASME SA240 grades 304 and 304L, dual certified where required. We supply SS 304 sheets from approved mills in cold-rolled thicknesses with 2B, BA, No. 4 and hairline finishes, and SS 304 plates hot rolled, annealed and pickled, with mill test certificates.
SS 304 sheet and plate are the most widely used stainless flat products – for tanks, vessels, food and dairy equipment, kitchens, architectural panels and general fabrication – wherever good corrosion resistance and formability are needed and chloride exposure is low.

Choosing finish and thickness
For process and storage equipment, 2B sheet and hot-rolled plate are standard. For kitchens, food counters, lifts and panels, No. 4 or hairline finishes hide fingerprints and light scratches; BA and mirror finishes are used for decorative and reflective work. Where sheets will be welded into tanks or vessels, 304L or dual-certified 304/304L avoids sensitisation at the welds. Thicker plates for vessels and tube sheets are often ordered with ultrasonic testing. For seawater or chloride splash, choose SS 316 sheets and plates instead.
Ordering SS 304 sheets and plates
Please give the grade, thickness, finish (one or both sides), sheet or plate size, quantity, any protective film, and supplementary tests or inspection. Sheets and plates are packed flat on pallets with interleaving for polished finishes, and each delivery is checked against the mill test certificate before dispatch.
Sheet and plate quality
Every sheet and plate is supplied by the mill solution annealed and with a surface finish that meets ASTM A480. Cold-rolled sheets are flat, with close thickness tolerance, so they suit laser cutting and precision bending. Hot-rolled plates have wider thickness tolerances and a dull pickled surface and are intended for fabrication of heavy equipment. Mill edges can be slightly irregular and are trimmed where needed. Each sheet or bundle carries the mill marking with grade, specification, heat number and dimensions, which should be kept on offcuts so material can be traced in the workshop.
Stainless sheets should be stored indoors, off the floor and away from carbon steel, and handled with clean gloves and lifting equipment to avoid scratches and iron contamination on decorative finishes.

SS 304 sheets and plates are used for storage and process tanks, dairy and brewery vessels, food machinery, commercial kitchens, hospital and laboratory equipment, lifts and escalators, architectural cladding, signage and general fabrication.
