Inconel 625 Pipes & Tubes

Inconel 625 Pipes & Tubes

Giriraj Impex stocks, supplies and exports Inconel 625 pipe and tube in UNS N06625 – seamless pipe and tube to ASTM B444 / ASME SB444, welded tube to ASTM B704 and welded pipe to ASTM B705. We supply Inconel 625 pipes from approved mills in Grade 1 (annealed) and Grade 2 (solution annealed), in schedules 5S to 80S and heavier walls, and Inconel 625 tubes for heat exchangers and instrumentation, with mill test certificates.

Inconel 625 pipes and tubes are used offshore and subsea, in seawater and sour service, in chemical and pollution-control plants and in high-temperature equipment, where their strength and corrosion resistance outperform stainless and duplex steels.

Grade 1 or Grade 2 pipe?

Grade 1 (annealed) pipe and tube has higher room-temperature strength and is used for service up to about 595 °C – the usual choice for offshore, seawater, chemical and sour-service piping. Grade 2 (solution annealed) has a coarser grain and better creep and rupture strength, and is used above about 595 °C – for example in high-temperature process lines, flare systems and some furnace and exhaust components. The grade must be stated in the enquiry, as the allowable stresses in the design codes differ.

Where Inconel 625 pipe is used

Offshore and subsea: seawater-cooled heat exchangers, firewater and seawater lines where super duplex is not enough, umbilical and control-line tubing, and risers and flowlines in sour, high-chloride wells.

Chemical and pollution control: flue-gas desulphurisation and scrubber piping, acid lines, and chloride-bearing process streams.

High temperature: flare stacks and tips, exhaust ducting, and process lines where strength and oxidation resistance are both needed.

Instrumentation: small-diameter seamless 625 tubing for hydraulic and chemical injection lines in subsea and wellhead systems.

Seamless or welded

Seamless pipe and tube to B444 is used for high-pressure, critical and small-bore lines and for tubing that will be coiled or bent. Welded pipe and tube to B705 and B704, made from strip or plate and fully heat treated and inspected, are used in thinner walls and larger diameters where they are more economical. Carbon steel pipe clad or lined with 625 is also used for large flowlines, combining corrosion resistance with lower cost.

Fabrication

Inconel 625 pipe is welded with matching ERNiCrMo-3 filler by TIG, with argon backing for the root. It bends well in the annealed condition; tight bends may need solution annealing afterwards for Grade 2 service. Joints must be clean and free of sulphur and lead. No post-weld heat treatment is normally needed for corrosion resistance.

Ordering Inconel 625 pipes and tubes

Please give the specification, grade (1 or 2), seamless or welded, outside diameter or nominal size, wall thickness or schedule, length, end finish, quantity and any supplementary testing or inspection. Pipes and tubes are packed in wooden boxes with end caps, and each length is marked with alloy, specification, size and heat number.

Applications and related products

Inconel 625 pipes and tubes are used offshore and subsea, in seawater and sour service, chemical and pollution-control plants, flare and exhaust systems and instrumentation. Matching products include Inconel 625 round bars. Other Inconel alloys are on the Inconel pipes and tubes page and all materials on the seamless pipes and tubes page.

Frequently Asked Questions
